What to do in the Great Glen

Activity Sports

Do you enjoy walking, cycling, climbing, munro-bagging, quad-biking, white-water rafting or kayaking?

Within an hours drive of Drynachan we have over 40 Munro’s (mountains over 3000 ft/914 m). Our cottage is just off the Great Glen Way so its perfect for walking or cycling. You could try mountain biking over the World Cup route in Fort William. Ice or rock climb at the Ice Factor or on some of the fantastic local mountain routes. White water raft or kayak down the Garry River (dam release so guaranteed water levels). Fishing the River Garry and the many local lochs.

History, Geography and Geology

This area of Scotland is alive with history, geography and geology. Lochaber is strongly associated with Bonnie Prince Charlie (including here at Drynachan) and we have a rich local history in the Glen, including the Clan MacDonnells. Locally geologists can explore Ben Nevis, th highest point in the UK, the parallel roads of Glen Roy, and of course the Great Glen is a rift valley.

If you are walking the Great Glen we can collect and deliver you to South Laggan and if required drop you at the pub for an evening meal. This service is free of charge.`
